When the Dylan Thomas longlist was announced at the start of the month I decided for the first time that I would read along. I've wanted to do this a couple of times but this is the first year I actually committed! Acts of Desperation and Keeping the House were both reads off the longlist. I had a pretty great reading month!
This month I read:

Assembly — Natasha Brown
I didn't really know what to expect going into this, and I think the experience was better for it. It's a really quick and impactful read with some great writing. I highly enjoyed it and found myself thinking about it long after I closed the pages.
Acts of Desperation — Megan Nolan
I'd had this on my radar for some time so was happy to see it on the Dylan Thomas longlist as it gave me the push to get it. This was a compulsive fast-paced read which had some great moments, but overall I found it lacking depth and was left expecting a little more.
Black Leopard, Red Wolf — Marlon James
I had such high expectations for this and have absolutely no idea how to sum up the reading experience. It was nothing like I anticipated but also everything I expected and more? Either way a HUGE standout for me this month and I’m now soooo excited to read Moon Witch, Spider King.
Keeping the House — Tice Cin This isn't one I'd heard of before seeing it on the Dylan Thomas longlist so I'm happy to have been introduced to something completely new. I really enjoyed the presentation of this story, the multiple POVs made the world tangible, and the culture seeps through the pages with Turkish phrases.
ALSO THIS MONTH:
I've had Caroline Polachek's single Billions pretty much on repeat. Cannot wait for the next album!
I've been rewatching Peaky Blinders and absolutely loving it. Cillian Murphy can do no wrong.
